Prevention

We bring heart health education to every corner of Jersey, meeting people where they are

Core Prevention Strategies

Heart health for everyone, everywhere

We run roadshows, school visits, awareness days and talks for clubs on good heart health. We have plenty of informative leaflets and our mascot Hearty is happy to visit younger audiences to deliver the good heart health message.

The best way to keep your heart healthy is to:

  • Eat a heart-healthy diet
    • Fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains
    • Eat lean proteins like fish and poultry
    • Limit salt, sugar, saturated fats and processed food
  • Get regular physical activity
  • Quit smoking (major risk factor for heart disease)
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Know your numbers
    • Check and control your blood pressure, cholesterol levels and blood sugar with the help of a nurse/doctor
  • Get plenty of sleep and manage your stress levels
